What are dental implants?

Dental implants are titanium tooth roots that attach to artificial teeth. Pleasant Family Dentistry offers traditional dental implants, same-day implants, and CEREC All-on-4 same-day dental implants. 

If you require a full set of replacement teeth, advanced technology allows your dentist to attach a full set of natural-looking teeth to just eight dental implants (four on the top and four on the bottom). You can receive new custom-fit teeth the same day as dental implant placement.

Your dentist can replace just a few missing teeth with traditional dental implants or use All-on-4 technology to replace all of your natural teeth. You don’t have to go without teeth after dental implant placement. The team can digitally scan your mouth and create new, custom-fit teeth right in the office. 

Are dental implants right for me?

To find out if you’re a good candidate for dental implants, your Pleasant Family Dentistry provider reviews your oral health history, examines your teeth and gums, takes dental X-rays, and discusses your desired outcome. They work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.

What can I expect during dental implant placement?

Prior to getting dental implants, your Pleasant Family Dentistry provider numbs the treatment area, so you don’t feel any discomfort. They gently insert titanium dental implants into your jawbone; they scan your mouth to create new artificial teeth in the office if receiving All-on-4. 

When the All-on-4 dentures are ready, your dentist attaches them to the titanium posts in your mouth. These teeth are temporary.

When your jawbone completely heals, you can return to the Pleasant Family Dentistry office to get fitted for permanent dentures. Your provider ensures they fit properly and permanently bonds them to the dental implants.

If you only get one or two implants, you return to the office after healing for your crown restoration.

How should I care for my dental implants?

To properly care for your dental implants, brush your teeth at least twice a day. Brush your tongue, the roof of your mouth, and your cheeks, too. Don’t chew on hard candy, ice, or other hard objects. Visit Pleasant Family Dentistry every six months for routine dental cleanings and examinations, and contact the office if your implants get damaged.
